1. Watching: The Leopard
Il Gattopardo (“The Leopard” in English) is one of those literary masterpieces every Italian pupil has studied in school – including yours truly. Written by Tommaso di Lampedusa and published after his death in 1958, it is set in Sicily during the Risorgimento, the process of unification of Italy that took place in 1861. The story follows the Salina clan, an aristocratic family grappling with the slow decline of their class that unfolds as a consequence of the new political structure. If it sounds boring, that’s because it is, or at least it was to me until this recent Netflix series adaptation came out.
Starring the super-talented Benedetta Porcaroli, the voluptuous Deva Cassel (daughter of Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel), and 90s Italian heart-throb Kim Rossi-Stuart as the cunning and subtly ironic patriarch of the family, I have enjoyed every minute of the opulent costumes, the golden-lit Sicilian villas and the messy love triangle dynamics.
It made me even want to unearth the 1960s film version by Luchino Visconti, which is considered another masterpiece of Italian cinema. I watched it as part of my cinema course at uni and remember thinking it was never-ending, but I’m ready to be challenged with more mature eyes!
2. My sustainable electric toothbrush
On my last monthly edit, I wrote about the tech gadgets I’m currently into. This month, I wanted to share something I’ve loved for years: meet SURI, my sustainable electric toothbrush.
I bought a “his and hers” set for Joe and me over three years ago after spotting the brand on Instagram. What initially caught my eye was the sleek design and thoughtful branding (a weakness of mine as a graphic designer). But beyond aesthetics, I had plenty of frustrations with my old electric toothbrush—bulky, ugly, and worst of all, the tiny holes in the brush head that trapped gunk and were impossible to clean.
SURI has been a complete game-changer. The slim aluminium body is lightweight, the plant-based heads can be fully recycled (SURI even provides pre-paid envelopes for easy returns), and the sonic vibrations make for a really effective clean, with two modes to choose from. But the biggest surprise? The battery life. I can go well over a month on a single charge, and the travel case doubles as both a charger and a UV light to sanitise the brush head.
It’s rare to find a product that gets everything right—design, function, and sustainability—but this one really does. After three years of daily use, I’m just as happy with it as I was on day one. And funnily enough, I recently became a brand ambassador for them, which means I have a discount code to share if you’ve been thinking about making the switch. No pressure, of course—I just love mine and thought you might too.

3. This Cos Coat
I am a huge fan of A-line silouhettes (amazing for concealing The Bloat, see my previous article here), and I have a soft spot for coats (more so than shoes or bags), which means this super light-weight coat presented a deadly combo I couldn’t resist. The first time I saw it in a shop, I managed to walk away. I wasn’t so lucky (or should I say contained) the following time.
Cos, Oversized coat, light green, £150
4. Best cookies. Ever.
This chocolatey shortbready trap of bliss will be the death of me.
I have nothing else to add on the subject.
Miller's Baker & Barista Belgian Double Chocolate Biscuits 120g, £3.25
5. New scent obsession
I have been a long time fan of Austin Austin hand soap and cream, but their newly launched Body soap is truly next level in terms of their scent formulation. It smells like you are in the most glamorous spa. I also love that the business was founded by a father-daughter duo (hence the name of the brand), and they collaborate with amazing artists to be featured on their beautiful packaging. 10/10.
Austin Austin, Neroli Pettigrain Body Soap, 300ml, £22
6. This Zara Home sofa
I don’t need a new sofa, but if I did, this would be on top of the list. The colour is stunning, the lines very elegant, but what I most love about it is the one-piece seat (no one deserves to seat on a cushion crack). I have also spotted a complementing mattress, which I am seriously considering getting!
Zara Home x VINCENT VAN DUYSEN, Sofa 01, £ 5,500 - £ 6,900
Zara Home, Heavy Linen Topper, £159
7. Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift
I was in central London the other day and walked into Liberty with the intention of doing some healthy window shopping (little side-note: that was minutes before I bought the aforementioned Cos coat, so in hindsight this purchase was probably the straw that broke the financially prudent camel’s back). Before I knew it, I was sat down at Francesco’s stool having a mini glow-up. Who’s Francesco, you may ask. Well, he’s an incredibly persuasive Italian make-up artist working at the Trish McEvoy counter. I could swear that’s his name, but my memory is notoriously gappy on names. I digress. He got me to try this product, which is more like an under-eye illuminator than it is a concealer. I have to say it does make your eyes instantly looked refreshed and brighter without being at all cakey.
Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift®, 3 ml, £38
8. This outfit
I so rarely wear patterns but I can’t refuse a gingham, and this Sezane mustard shirt is particularly delicious, I think! I took a styling leaf out of their book and added a belt to accentuate the waste and paired it with a super comfy pair of trousers from Everlane (currently on sale!). All links below!
Sezane, Eurielle Shirt, Ochre Ecru Gingham Checks, £105
Everlane, The Utility Barrel Pant, Rosewood £96 £67
I really enjoyed "The Leopard" as well! Such a departure from the Visconti version from the 60s. I liked that Concetta was so much more developed — the story was much more interesting.
That Austin Austin bath/shower gel is UnREAL!!! I’d forgotten about it.
Now haunted xo
